10 Feb The Secret of Turning Water To Wine
Journal Reflection of Day 2 (9th February 2017)
“I was haunted by failure to the edge of suicide—and then came life.” – Dr. Ravi Zacharias
Driven by a dark sense of hopelessness, young Ravi Zacharias attempted to take his own life by downing the poison that he stole from his university chemistry lab. Today, Dr. Ravi Z is an influential Christian apologist who has preached in more than 70 countries. And in his own words, he said that only God, the Grand Weaver, is capable of creating an unexpected and beautiful pattern out of a broken life.
How did a man who was once broken and suicidal became a passionate man with a global influence for Jesus Christ?
How did Jesus turn this water into wine? What’s the secret?
“The master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.” – John 2:9-11
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit” – John 15:5
I believe the secret answer is found in John 15:5. Jesus was the vine from which the wine is made! The secret to turning water into wine is by abiding in the vine!
Jesus was the vine from which the wine is made!
It is fascinating to me that the first public miracle Moses did was to turn water to blood (jugdment) while Jesus’ miracle was to turn water to wine (joy). Only Jesus could have rescued the 17 years old Ravi Zacharias from a self-imposed death sentence and exchanged it with a life of unspeakable joy.
Will you let Jesus turn this water into wine?
Hear the voice of the Spirit of Christ,
“I am the vine; you are the branches. Remain in me and you will bear much fruit.”
